American Afterall
For the longest time I have battled my parents on the whole naturalization process. I didn’t want to give up my citizenship status to Chile and I wasn’t about to give the US government $500 of my hard earned dollars to go towards fingerprints and a little piece of paper stating I was American. Not to mention that the $500 tag price did NOT include the extra passport (pictures and fees)...

Road to Ultra
I can’t wait for this weekend! This is my official babymoon, and I get to be with all my favorite people (well, maybe not all of ‘em) to celebrate in bass blasting style! Not only that, but I get to photograph the event one more time. I doubt I will get to go to Ultra 13 as I will be a mommy to an almost one year old (crazy thought)! This weekend promises to be glorious!I have my new...

Unplugging the Fridge →
Call me crunchy, but I am all for this! I need to get the hell out of Florida. [via: bridgettelizabeth:] In an ongoing effort to green our lives, we thought we’d see what life without a fridge would look like. Refrigerators, especially old ones like ours, are the worst energy hogs in a home, sucking up 1,383 kilowatt hours per year. According to the US Department of Energy, that’s about 14% of a...

Dr. Bradley & Such
I went in for my second biweekly appointment yesterday and I got thumbs up all around. I got my glucose test back and I was at 110 and the cut off is 140, EXCELLENT! In total, since I got pregnant in September I have gained 8lbs! The nurse practitioner gave me props as I only want to gain 15lbs, and it looks like I will be hitting my goal. The baby’s heartbeat is strong and my fundus is...

Man teaches alpaca to surf. →
OMG! Another awesome reason to get an Alpaca! I want oneeeeeeeee! flickflickflicker: “I’ve surfed with a dog, a parrot, a hamster and a cat, but when I was at a competition in Australia I saw people surfing with kangaroos and koalas,” Pianezzi was quoted by Reuters as saying. “So I thought that, as a Peruvian, it would be interesting to surf with a unique animal that represents Peru.”

Mexican immigrant gets baby back from state  →
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – A Mexican immigrant walked out of the Gartin Justice Building on Friday holding the daughter who had been taken from her by state officials in 2008, when advocates say she was accused of being an unfit mother because she doesn’t speak English. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Are we fucking for real?! They found her a Spanish interperter, but the lady only spoke Chatino (a dialect indigenous to...

Completos
[Pic via: Viva Valparaiso] I’ve been craving Chilean hotdogs A.K.A. Completo (complete) ever since my cousins posted on Facebook they where getting together to have some a few weeks back. Then I saw a random video with Anthony Bourdain in Chile eating a completo. These damn hotdogs have been haunting my pregnant ass! So I finally broke down and went to the store and got everything I...

Dear Publix,
Thank you so much for being an awesome grocery store. I hate using my WIC checks because they take so long and cashiers usually have no clue how to process them. But it doesn’t matter if I get someone who is knowledgeable or not at one of your stores, they smile and try to get through it as quickly as possible; which is more than I can say for the snappy people at Albertsons. I’m...

I'm Just as Good
I’ve been geeking out on concert photography forums all day in hopes of learning more technical specs for Ultra. Now that its almost midnight I’ve come to a few conclusions: First, red light is the devil and no good solution exists with combating this beast. The best I found was to underexpose by 2 stops and convert to black and white in Photoshop and to mess with the curves and red...

A Shaky Start
I’m not big into politics, and to be quite honest I don’t really know jack squat about this subject. I’m a big believer in the universe providing you with signs that show you the future. With that said, does anyone else find it strange eerie that yesterday Chile experienced another earthquake with massive aftershocks just as President Piñera was taking office? If that...

MSNBC: Magnitude 7.2 quake strikes Santiago,... →
Unreal, the ground doesn’t want to stop shaking. Again, my family members are okay, mostly scared as this madness doesn’t end. :( inothernews: A magnitude-7.2 earthquake hit Chile on the day of the presidential inauguration of Sebastian Pinera. Chile’s emergency office said there were no immediate reports of damage, but the Chilean navy issued a tsunami alert. Reuters witnesses...

Every Two Weeks & 100 Days To Go
According to my little birth countdown ticker, I have 100 days to go with this pregnancy. I can’t believe how fast time is flying by and by mid March I’ll be seven months pregnant. I officially had my last monthly appointment last week, and start on my biweekly visits starting on the 18th. Coincidentally, that same day I start my Bradley Method classes. The next couple of weeks are...

When Otters Attack →
I feel bad for this man, he was just minding his own business when an otter came out of nowhere and shanked him! I just can’t believe this happened, I’m shocked, but laughing on the inside (I’m going to hell).

Another Earthquake in Chile
My Uncle William is desperately trying to get out of Chile (he’s vacationing), but due to travel suspensions it has been really difficult. He’s scared for his life and I don’t blame him. He says the Earth hasn’t stopped shaking since the quake hit last Saturday. They experienced a 4.1 tremor last night and tremors are expected to keep coming. The fault lines are really...

inothernews: The sea gave this small fishing village life. But last weekend, stirred by the powerful earthquake that rocked Chile, it savagely turned on Tubul, swallowing houses and boats and sending most of its 3,000 residents scurrying for the hills. The magnitude 8.8 earthquake flattened large areas of nearby Concepción, carving gaping gashes in highways throughout the southern half of the...

In Chile, Life Between the Tremors  →
We are as shattered as the windows and mirrors that tumbled when that 300-mile fault tore open in the middle of a late-summer night. People are shaking, living in a daze of anxiety, sadness, exhilaration, gossip and a tremendous need to connect with one another and feel that the quake is over. It is not.

Death toll in Chile earthquake passes 700 →
President Bachelet gives me hope. imjustlikeme: The death toll from Saturday’s 8.8-magnitude earthquake in Chile has risen to 708, Chilean President Michelle Bachelet said. Despite looting concerns in some areas, Bachelet said her government reached an agreement with the country’s major supermarkets that would allow them to give away basic foodstuffs they have in stock to those affected by the...

yellowperilist: Chile: Shaken, Not Stirred. →
Maybe I’m wrong, but I just love this picture! Martin Bernetti’s image of men sitting in a street devastated by the tsunami in Talcahuano Chile, from the front page to today’s New York Times. The composition and colors are just amazing. It looks like a stage set for a two man play. - Even admist the chaos and loss, tea must be had. God Bless Chile.
