I’ve been lacking on the posts lately and reading my Tumblr feed tonight inspired me to write about what is happening with Iliana and I, so here goes.
Ultra Music Festival came and went, and heck yeah it was awesome! I can’t believe I was part of the massive A State of Trance 500 celebration in Miami. Unreal that I spent 12 hours in a tent in the very front being smothered by a good 315135135 people. It was so worth it, I can’t believe some of the shots I got standing in the sweaty masses. Best part, I got to meet Armin van Buuren whilst I was frolicking back stage. Amazing, amazing, amazing. I met the #1 Dj in the world :D, but the picture is too awful to post :( I look disgusting as it was day #3 of an electronic dance music festival…I have curly hair…its Florida…yeah, not pretty….but who cares, I met Armin! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!
Immediately after Ultra I got a job from an ad I responded to on Craigslist. The ad was for a personal assistant for a realtor. The ad was kinda funny, it said something about being able to multi-task and not being allergic to cats, as it would be for a home office. It also asked to send a brief intro about ourselves and attach a resume. So I wrote some silly paragraph about how much I rock at organizing and how I love cats and can do everything they wanted me to do and speak all the languages they wanted me to. So I just rambled on about myself in a pretty non professional way, half thinking to myself, there is no way I am going to get the job sending this in. So I sent it anyway thinking these people would have a sense of humor. Well, a week later, they call me and ask me to come in for an interview. I go in and they said out of 60 applicants I was the only one they were going to interview. They hired me on the spot and I am now working as a real estate assistant. I’ve been with her for three weeks and this last week I got to work from home. It is probably the best job ever, only it pays $10/hr, but at least its something and I can work around Iliana and Kerry’s schedule. I love my boss and we get along great and we work from her house so its very cozy. It is probably one of the best jobs I’ve had. I’ve gone out with her to show some listings already and you get so passionate about finding people a home. You get to put a new roof over a family, and you work with these people for months walking them through the process, etc. You really become close, its so weird….this strange realtor relationship…lol…anyway, my job is cool and I am happy I am able to bring in some income. Just in time too so I can put some money down toward Iliana’s first birthday!
Speaking of my June Bug, she is getting so big! She is 10 months and 10 days old. Today is her first Easter and I have the cutest lil purple dress my mom got her when she was in Chile this past X-mas. I can’t wait to take some pics of her in it. I can’t believe that she is almost a year old, time really does fly. I remember her birth so vividly, like it just happened, and now my lil bug is going to be one. We are going to have a luau bash for her at my parents house in Miami, they have a big pool and a nice back yard. It is going to be so much fun seeing Iliana’s lil friends in the pool with her. I can’t wait it is going to be amazing!
Speaking of amazing things, Iliana started walking! Right before she turned 10 months she took her first steps, now she crawls and stands up and walks for a bit and then crawls again. She also figured out how to walk over to the first step of the pool and sit there and play, it is the cutest thing ever. She loves being outdoors and playing with the animals and rolling around in the grass, swimming in the pool and soaking in the Florida sunshine. Aside from taking her first steps she now has 8 teeth! Four of them just came out of nowhere last week. She now calls my dad Ta-Ta, her dad PA-PA, me MA-MA and for some odd reason she calls my brother Apple, lol. She also knows how to say buh-bye and waves, says hi and waves, can float in her pool float all alone and kick her feet to swim, and dance to every beat she hears. She is also eating tons of food, I am amazed on how quickly she has packed on the pounds since we went to 75% feeding, and on top of that we are still breastfeeding! I am so proud of myself to have made it this long. I plan to keep it going until she is one and then I’ll reevaluate how things are and decide if I want to keep going for another year. Since I work now I have to pump once or twice during the afternoon to keep the supply up, but it is so worth it for her, she loves the boobie!
So that pretty much catches me up with what is happening in my life and how Iliana is growing. I will post some pics soon, nine month portrait needs to go up and I need to take her 10 month one too. I have over 1k pics to edit from Ultra and I just don’t have time these days! I am lucky enough to be able to write this and I started this last night!
Okay off I go to help my mom with Easter preparations. Happy Easter to all :)
but you can do simple on a budget! I love DIY! I am mostly getting everything I need from the dollar store. Everything else we already have like the pool and backyard. And I have the bonus of my mom being a creative cake artist so she makes amazing creations. What ideas do you have maybe I can help you think of ways to make it cheap :D and help you on some DIY projects.
My little one is quickly approaching the one year mark and I couldn’t be more excited! Her birthday is on June 14th right toward the end of Spring/beginning of Summer (though here in Miami its Summer 24/7). I do NOT want to throw her a cliche 1st birthday (ie: Winnie the Pooh, Princess, Barbie, Circus, Animals, etc.) I was thinking more along the lines of a luau/summer party, sort of a celebration to Iliana’s first year and the beginning of the Summer season. I have a pool and a pretty sized yard and I have TONS of ideas already in my head to make this a pretty cool birthday for adults and children. My only concern is, is this TOO much for a first birthday and would the fact that I have an un-gated pool be too much of a risk? I would love to hear your opinions, give me the pros and cons.
If ever you want to train on anything and want to learn from Kerry, just let us know and we can make the arrangements. Classes are usually semi private and run $15 for an hour or he has a private rate I think its $45/hr (not sure) and thats just u and him and whatever equipment you want to learn more on. We have silks, a triple trap, lyra/hoop and a static trap. I read you found a studio near you, that is awesome! And just for future reference, if you don’t see your director get on the equipment chances are they don’t know much about what they are teaching. Unfortunately in the circus world tons of amateurs believe they are capable of teaching. I have witnessed it first hand working in the flying trapeze industry. You probably know more than they do!
So if ever you just want to get away and learn some more circus skills come on down to Miami and we can arrange something. You are more than welcome to stay with us and the baby :)
hmmm, they may be a bit short just cos u r so tall. do they not have taller sized tights? and what’s their return policy? You can try em on and if they are too short you can always exchange them, and if they are too snug you can keep em when you get down your desired size. I have a few pieces I keep around as incentive to keep losing weight, one day they WILL fit me again! Sorry I wasn’t much of help :(
