Zombies!

So some crazy naked dude down in Miami ate another man’s face! WTF! The police had to shoot the attacker a dozen times, and even while shot he kept gnawing the other dude’s face off! The poor victim has barely a face left, no nose, no mouth, no cheeks! The “zombie” is now dead and the victim is at the hospital hanging on to dear life. The pictures are so disturbing I dare not post them, I leave it to your Googling skills to find them! Miami is nuts, so glad I don’t live there any more!

Just No

My neighbor insists that our Tower Garden isn’t the “right” way to grow. Um, neighbor…you looking at what I’m looking at? Did you see my cucumbers from seed to actual salad in HALF the time it takes them to grow in soil?! Your idea of needing “lake” water and soil for the extra nutrients is just retarded. We’ve done our research, my husband is a chemist/biologist for goodness sakes, we know what we are doing!

The fact that you think our veggies have less nutrition then conventional ones at the store makes you look like an idiot! Do you not know of environmental run offs in our ground water?! Pesticides, household chemicals, raw sewage, prescription drugs, you name it, it’s probably in there! How is using filtered drinkable water a bad thing for plants? We drink it, my child drinks it, and now my plants drink it and are thriving!

His argument is that he can build something that costs a third of the price of the Tower Garden, but you need a lake/pond for water….um…no lakes next to my house buddy, last time I checked. And the fact that you are telling me that there would be no way that fish could survive in water if it had such terrible run off is just as invalid as your first point. Animals adapt to all sorts of conditions, just because they aren’t dead now doesn’t mean a thing! Just wait until their genetics start to reproduce and that is when you will see all the issues the run off has caused.

My point: Growing your own food at home is convenient, saves me money on gas, saves me money on overpriced fruits & vegs that are NOT picked when they are ripe, and by the time they get to your belly have lost more than 50% of their nutritional value! It’s teaching my child where food comes from, the answer isn’t factories and supermarket, its called hard work and farming! Growing NOT in soil already decreases a good majority of soil derived bacterias, as well as pests. The only things we are worried about now are aphids, these little mite things and on a rare occasion a fruit bat (which I think ate half of some of my ripe strawberries cos you can see the bite marks). All pests can be controlled by spraying it down at night with mild soap and water. No harsh pesticides or chemicals.

So neighbor, again, tell me why you think your non portable (need to be near a body of water) and soil dependent rig is better than ours?! Have you been to Home Depot or Lowes and seen the price for: mulch, soil, nutrients, pots, seeds, etc? It is absurd! The fact that it takes less than an hour a day to tend to my vertical garden and my hands are clean when I come inside is all worth it!

You Get What You Wish For

and I have a period. That is all. NO BABIES inside of me. I still want to take a test just to be sure cos I am quite a bit late, but what a relief! I just weaned the peanut like 2.5 months ago I don’t want to rush into more boob feeding any time soon. Guess now is not the time and I am okay with that :)

Sentences & Languages!

Iliana is forming sentences in English and in Spanish and in most cases in Spanglish! I am so excited that she has been able to pick up both and retain both. Can’t wait for her to learn Mandarin, it is going to be so exciting!

Her first formal sentence: “I want ta watch a mooobie”

So proud of my lil peanut. She learns so much everyday! I think that is one of the best parts of parenting is that you get to watch this little person develop. You are watching children interact with the world for the first time and there is something so beautiful about it all. Their little faces when they see something they’ve never seen before, or their look of excitement when they see you and you make a silly face. The fact that I can pass on my culture and language to my child as well as her ability to also adopt her father’s native tongue is just incredible.

Couldn’t be a happier mama.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there. May you have a beautiful day filled with love and laughter.

The world around me has been on a loop about babies and when the 2nd one is coming. Why is that all this murmur pops up when you suspect you may be expecting?! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Makes me go crazy. Still have to wait a few days to test and make sure, I’m still holding out for a period. Everyone in my family including my husband really want this to happen. I’m confused and on the fence, but if it happens it happens. What a lovely Mother’s Day to have all while on the edge of my seat praying for cramps and pms!

“I have nothing now but praise for my life. I’m not unhappy. I cry a lot because I miss people. They die and I can’t stop them. They leave me and I love them more. … What I dread is the isolation. … There are so many beautiful things in the world which I will have to leave when I die, but I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready.” —Maurice Sendak on Fresh Air in 2011. RIP you wonderful person :)

What to Do...?

I think someone on Tumblr stole my Moon picture and is posing it as their own…thing is I scrolled through their Tumblr and it shows pictures in process of taking pics of the moon…I scrolled through a couple of pages of their blog and couldn’t see any other photographs taken by them. So I look at my picture, look at theirs…its almost the exact same picture. I understand that a moon is a moon, but if I am on the East Coast and they are on the West Coast wouldn’t the moon look different for them as we are in two different parts of the planet? Also the chunk where my watermark has been cut off and when I paste their picture ontop of mine the chunk that is cut off mysteriously matches right up with mine. I can see they cleaned up the grit on the picture and took the yellow tint off too, but I could do that easily with Photoshop or any editing tool….how do I go on about making a comment about this and not raising a big fuss? I wouldn’t want to wrongfully accuse any one, but I don’t think its right for them to get credit for something they didn’t take….

What would you guys do in this type of situation?
