Ultra 2009 Lineup Announced!

The lineup has finally arrived! Ultra Music Festival 2009 has officially announced some of the acts that will grace us with their electronic music goodness the final weekend in March in sunny Miami, Florida!

This year, we’ll see several new twists and surprises as the good people of Ultra have noticed the indie/electro-pop (house, punk…) take-over in the past couple years. Bands such as Bloc Party, The Ting Tings, Santogold, Cut Copy, Crystal Castles, The Presets, Hercules and Love Affair, Simian Mobile Disco and Busy P. will all be there to bring us the new sound of electronic music.

Probably the biggest highlight of the Ultra 2009 lineup for me will be the legendary drum and bass DJ Roni Size and Reprazent returning to the US complete with a full band! The drum and bass tent will certainly be explosive, though I have a feeling that Roni Size & Reprazent will be blaring their live drum and bass beats via the main stage

Deadmau5 (deadmouse not dead maw-5) has been busy since we last saw him in March at Ultra 10. He has gone on to dominate the charts and collecting fans by the masses, as he claimed #11 on the DJ Mag Top 100 poll, making him the highest new entry for 2008. Maybe it has something to do with that red mouse head he likes to rock while he’s spinnin’; regardless, Deadmau5 is a force to be reckoned with and promises not to disappoint as he enters his second year with the Ultra family.

Of course, no electronic music festival is ever complete without the King of Trance himself, Tiësto. I admit, I am not a huge fan of trance nor Tiësto’s music (I’m an Armin van Buuren gal), but he really ties the festival together. Tiësto is the thread that gently holds us electronic music loving people together, whether we like to admit it or not. If you don’t vibe off the massive blasts of trance coming to your ears, you can sit back on the Ultra hill and enjoy the sights.

Carl Cox will also return in 2009 along with a bevy of his DJ friends (not yet announced) to help us dance (or sweat) the night away. From what I can remember from Ultra 2008 the Carl Cox tent was always packed tight and impossible to get into! Luckily for us brave Grooveshark reporters we had back stage passes and had access to detours everywhere; mmmm, the power of press!

This is not all Ultra 2009 has to offer us, more DJs and acts to be announced as 2008 comes to an end. I urge everyone to come to Ultra as it’s the experience of a life time. Imagine 55,000+ people from 50+ countries gathered by the sea and hugged by the Miami skyline swaying to the sights and sounds of over 20+ DJs…Utopia.
