Nuchol Fold Test

I went to my Nuchold Fold test yesterday and we got to see the baby! Kerry and I couldn’t stop laughing at the baby as he/she was performing a nice little drum and bass shuffle in the womb. He (from here on out it will be referred to as a he, though it’s not confirmed and wont be till birth) was moving around, shaking, looking at his hand and then eating it! It was just too cute, we couldn’t believe how much movement the little fella is already doing. We also got to hear the heartbeat in combination with the baby moving, so it was really nice to finally get the whole picture together; his little heart is beating at 146 bpm, ideal for this stage in the game.

It turns out I have a tilted uterus and a fibroid that is sitting on top of the placenta so they weren’t able to measure the nuchol fold, but I was told that they saw no thickness and that his nasal bone was coming in cute and nicely, so no abnormalities were found as of yet and that I shouldn’t worry about my fibroid or my tilted uterus. The doctor told me we have to switch to “plan b” which is going back to my OB/GYN and doing the blood work/tests with him on December 17th. My next appointment with the specialist is on January 4th to measure the limbs and the heart of the baby. As it turns out, I am only 11 weeks and my due date was pushed back from 6/5/10 to 6/15/10, but we shall see when it really wants to come out. I am hoping it waits till Father’s Day to give Kerry the *ULTIMATE* gift.

Kerry and I were discussing this afternoon that our baby will be born dead smack in the middle of the year, we will both be parents for our next birthdays and that the holidays will take on a whole new meaning as we celebrate baby’s first Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. How freaking exciting is that! I have also learned that the baby will be born under the year of the tiger (Chinese zodiac) and that he will either be a Gemini or a Cancer, or very close to the cusp. So far I’ve gained no weight and all is fine with the baby. Pregnancy is continuing to treat me wonderfully and I finally no longer crave junk food! I’ve become seriously addicted to carrots as of late and I just want to eat salad for every meal. I am trying my best to consume the right amount of dairy, but I just can’t do it, I am trying though! And I’ve also started to intake more water, which is good because I desperately need it, not only for my health, but for my skin as my hormones are causing my face to break out like a teenage boy :(

We are heading down to Miami in a few hours, so if you wanna come say hi, you should! There is barely a baby bump showing and nothing to get too excited about, but I do have two ultrasounds to share =)

Baby Update: Today (11/18/09) I am 11 weeks and 4 days, and getting really close to the end of the first trimester! I went to my first prenatal appointment on Monday and everything is groovy. My uterus is the right size and my blood pressure is great. We didn’t get to see the baby, no ultrasound until 16 weeks, BUT we did get to hear the baby’s heartbeat! My midwife told me not to panic if we didn’t hear anything, and I was prepared for not hearing it at all since I am only 11 weeks, but she found it and we heard it! Little guy/girl is beating nice and strong.

I go in tomorrow for my tripanel testing, in which I get an ultrasound, so that’s pretty spiffy. The tripanel is to check out the chances the baby could be born with down syndrome, spina bifida, etc. I opted to get all of the testing to make sure the little bean is going to enter this world as healthy as can be. My next appointment is on 12/17 in which they said I could find out the gender of the baby, but Kerry doesn’t want to find out….I’ve decided that I will wait until birth to find out the gender so it can be a “surprise”, as everyone keeps telling me…To me, its already a surprise! So gender neutral gifts for the babyshower guys ;)

As for the rest of the pregnancy, everything is great. I actually lost 3lbs (hurray morning sickness! /sarcasm) which is great because I thought I had gained about 30lbs from all the stuff I’ve been eating! I’m not craving anything yet and all of the morning sickness has pretty much ended. I wake up every morning with an awful taste in my mouth which leaves me wanting gum around the clock. My hormones are taking over my brain and I am an emotional wreck! I cry over everything, even stupid sentimental commercials put me over the edge. I just hope the emotional roller coaster ends soon; I am happy one minute, crying my eyes out the next and laughing my ass off soon after. I feel like I have a split personality disorder, but I guess that’s what happens when you are living for two.

That about does it for me, I’m currently at work bored out of my mind and Tumblr is one of the sites NOT blocked by the sonic wall, so at least I have that. Till next time <3

Okay, starting again, the same way. S, more different S. Close it up real good at the top for his head, and then, using consummate V’s, give him teeth, spineties, and… angry eyebrows. You can add smoke or fire, or maybe some wings, you know, if he’s a wingaling dragon… let’s put one of those beefy arms back on him for good measure. That looks really good, coming out of the back of his neck there…

Now he needs a name. How ‘bout… TROGDOR the BURNINATOR. Oh yeah! Check out all his majesty!

A Round of Firsts

I am now entering the fetal period! Goodbye yolk sac, hello placenta! Got approved for Medicaid and have officially booked my first prenatal visit for Nov 16th in the morning. I can’t wait to check out the little bean and see how far it has progressed in development (crossing my fingers, toes, legs, arms, hands and eyes for everything to be A-ok!). Time really does fly when you’re pregnant! Pretty soon it will be Thanksgiving and before you know it Christmas and New Years are here, and then the birth of this child…insanity!

So far everything has been great in terms of pregnancy symptoms, except for these past two days where I felt I was going to toss my cookies every 5 seconds. Lots of reiki, stretching, and Pepcid seem to cure the heartburn blues…and they tell me this is only the beginning of my heartburn aches, *sigh*, can’t wait! /sarcasm

We should know the gender around Christmas time and I can finally stop calling it an “it”! For now I just call it bean and it works out fine.

Going up to Gainesville this weekend to say goodbye to my dear Jew Elliot, as he is finally getting the hell out of Alachua County and making his way up to the cooler climates of Colorado. What a crazy four year run we towels have had, and here we are on the brink of massive change, the future looks bright for all of us :) Hope to see some of you this weekend!
